Jerry Li is an associate professor at the University of Washington's Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. His primary research interests encompass learning theory, quantum information theory, the science of large foundation models, and high-dimensional statistics. Li has a particular interest in applying analysis and analytic techniques to problems in theoretical computer science. His background includes a Ph.D. from MIT, where he worked with Ankur Moitra, and a master's degree from MIT under Nir Shavit. Prior to his current position, he was a principal research scientist at Microsoft Research Redmond and served as the VMware Research Fellow at the Simons Institute in Fall 2018. As an undergraduate at the University of Washington, he researched the complexity of branching programs and the hardness of techniques used in learning problems related to database theory and AI.
