Marc V Fuccillo, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. He is affiliated with the Department of Neuroscience and the Graduate Group in Cell and Molecular Biology. His research focuses on the synaptic and circuit mechanisms of behavioral control, utilizing neuroscience technologies to understand how neural circuits mediate behavior and how perturbations in these circuits contribute to neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. His laboratory investigates cortico-basal ganglia circuits, inhibitory interneurons, and the molecular architecture underlying circuit function, with particular interest in goal-directed behavior, motor control, and disease modeling related to autism, intellectual disability, OCD, Tourette syndrome, and ADHD. Dr. Fuccillo's educational background includes a B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Brown University, a Ph.D. in Developmental Genetics from Brown University, and both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from New York University School of Medicine. He directs the postdoctoral initiative, P-SPINE, and his work aims to elucidate the principles of neural circuit organization and their implications for behavior and disease.
