Aleksander A. Aleszczyk is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, NYU. His research interests lie at the intersection of accounting and finance, with a particular focus on debt capital markets, financial institutions, and corporate financial distress and bankruptcy. He has received grants and funding from notable institutions including the AQR Asset Management Institute, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Schroders Capital, and the NYU Stern Center for Global Economy and Business. Professor Aleszczyk currently teaches financial accounting and reporting, and has been recognized for his teaching excellence with the NYU Stern Distinguished Teaching Award in 2026. He has also been named among the Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors by Poets & Quants in 2025 and among the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors in 2020. His case study work has been among the bestselling in finance, accounting, and control at The Case Centre in 2017 and 2018. Prior to his doctoral studies, he gained work experience in investment banking at J.P. Morgan and Santander, central banking at the National Bank of Poland, and auditing at Ernst & Young. Outside academia, he holds certifications as a lifeguard, senior motorboat helmsman, and private pilot. He earned his PhD from London Business School, an MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge, and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Finance with First Class honors from the University of Exeter.
