• The TOY Project and Development of Intergenerational Learning Training in Europe

  Abstract This chapter traces the development of the international TOY online learning course, “Together Old and Young: An Intergenerational Approach,” from its concept and design phase through to its pilot delivery as a blended learning course and in many iterations as a massive online open course. A central theme in the chapter is the importance of values and attitudes in the work of intergenerational learning practitioners and the contribution of the TOY course to developing intergenerational learning and cultural awareness through the attention given to experiential learning and reflection. The chapter also critically examines the opportunities and challenges online learning offers adult learners in diverse cultural contexts.
