About

Sinja Leonelli joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in June 2023. Her research interests span two broad areas in empirical accounting: misconduct reporting, regulation, and enforcement with a focus on whistleblowing; and the use of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information by stakeholders such as regulators, employees, and consumers. She holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MBA from the same institution, an MS in Business Research and Analytics from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and a BS in Business Administration from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Her academic background and research focus reflect a strong emphasis on understanding the regulatory environment, corporate governance, and the real effects of accounting regulation.
